Market-linked products
Mutual fund schemes, including SIF strategies, invest in securities whose prices fluctuate. The Net Asset Value of a scheme can go up or down depending on the factors and forces affecting the securities market.
- Market risk — the value of your units may fall below the amount invested.
- Credit risk — an issuer of a debt security held by the scheme may default on interest or principal.
- Interest-rate risk — bond prices fall when yields rise, affecting debt scheme NAVs.
- Liquidity risk — a scheme may find it difficult to sell holdings quickly at fair value in stressed markets.
- Concentration risk — sectoral or thematic schemes are exposed to the fortunes of a narrow segment.
- Regulatory and tax risk — changes in law can alter the returns you finally realise.
The name of a scheme does not in any manner indicate the quality of the scheme or its future prospects. There is no assurance that the objective of any scheme will be achieved.
Insurance products
- Claims are payable only in accordance with the policy terms, conditions and exclusions.
- Waiting periods, sub-limits, co-payment, deductibles and room-rent capping can reduce the amount actually received.
- Non-disclosure or misstatement in the proposal form can lead to rejection or repudiation of a claim.
- Bonuses or fund values under savings-linked and unit-linked policies are not guaranteed except to the extent expressly stated in the policy document.
- Discontinuing premium payment may cause the policy to lapse or acquire a reduced paid-up value.
Digital gold and silver
- Prices of precious metals are volatile and can fall.
- The product is not currently regulated as a securities product by SEBI, RBI or IRDAI; your rights arise from the issuer's contract.
- A spread exists between the buy rate and the sell rate at any point in time.
- Making, packaging, delivery and applicable taxes reduce the net realisation on conversion to physical metal.
- Custody and buy-back depend on the continued solvency and performance of the issuing entity.
Loans and credit facilities
- Sanction, limit, rate of interest, tenure and charges are decided solely by the lender.
- In a loan against securities, a fall in the market value of pledged holdings can trigger a margin call; unmet, the lender may invoke the lien and sell the securities.
- In a gold loan, non-payment can lead to auction of pledged ornaments after due notice.
- Default on any credit facility is reported to credit bureaus and affects future borrowing.
- Floating rate loans reprice when the external benchmark changes, altering your EMI or tenure.
Equity and IPO participation
- Direct equity investment can result in permanent loss of capital.
- Allotment in an oversubscribed public issue is not guaranteed and follows the registrar's prescribed method.
- Listing price may be below the issue price.
- We do not provide research, tips or buy-sell recommendations on any security.
